Customized for Celestron SCT 8" f/10: Designed for most Celestron 8” (20 cm) f/10 SCTs made in 2005 and later, including SkyWatcher SCT and non-EdgeHD Fastar models with black Phillips factory collimation screws and metric threads. Not suitable for models made before 2005.
Part Options - Part: C8metBO and C8metSS:
- Telescope Compatibility: Fits Celestron 8" f/10 SCTs with metric threads, excluding telescopes with EdgeHD optics.
- Knob Variants: Available in black oxide steel (black) or stainless steel (silver), each 12 mm (1/2”) in diameter for comfortable use.
- Thread Material: Choose between black oxide or stainless steel threads for a durable and secure fit.
Thread Type and Model Identification:
- Metric Threads in Newer Models: Most post-2005 models with black Phillips screws require metric knobs, but some may have standard threads.
- Metric Fastar Compatibility: Suitable for metric Fastar versions not equipped with EdgeHD optics.
Environmental Considerations:
- Black Oxide Steel: Ideal for dry environments; occasional oiling recommended for corrosion prevention.
- Stainless Steel: Offers superior corrosion resistance, suitable for coastal or humid areas, or where dew is frequent.
Dust Cover and Secondary Cover:
- Dust Cover Compatibility: Ensures the factory dust cover fits normally with Bob's Knobs installed.
- Secondary Cover Removal: If a small plastic cover is present over factory screws, remove and set it aside during knob installation. The cover is cosmetic.
Special Note for Rare Models:
- Installation Without Spacers: For the rare telescopes with 10mm long factory screws, install knobs without the included white spacers.
