Think of a Barlow lens as the multitool in your astronomy kit! Place it between your telescope and your eyepiece and voila, your magnification is doubled on the spot. So, if you've got a 10mm and a 25mm eyepiece, adding a Celestron Omni 2X Barlow Lens essentially doubles your magnification options. With the lens, your 25mm eyepiece acts like a 12.5mm, and your 10mm performs like a 5mm.
Now, let's talk about eye relief, which is how far your eye needs to be from the eyepiece's first lens to see the entire field of view. When you add a Barlow lens to the mix, you'll get twice the zoom but your eye relief remains unchanged. This is a big plus because shorter focal lengths usually mean less eye relief. So, a standard 10mm eyepiece typically offers better eye relief compared to a 5mm one. Score!
As for the design, the Celestron Omni 2x Barlow is decked out in a slick silver finish. Its two-element optics are fully multi-coated, and the lens edges are blackened to minimize internal reflections. It's designed with a 1.25" barrel that's compatible with standard 1.25" focusers and diagonals. Plus, it's equipped with a metal thumbscrew that securely locks your eyepiece in position.
