Description

The Advanced VX (AVX) is a trailblazer in the realm of mid-tier telescopes, offering a plethora of features usually reserved for Celestron's high-end German equatorial mounts, all without busting your budget. Coupled with an 8” Newtonian optical tube, this setup is ideal for those just entering the field or for intermediate users. The Newtonian optics are excellent for visual observation and provide the biggest aperture for your buck. The parabolic primary mirror effectively reduces spherical aberration, yielding sharper images at the edges of the field of view. Plus, the 8” Newtonian tube gathers 78% more light compared to its 6” counterpart. The mount itself benefits from Celestron's most innovative technologies like All-Star Polar Alignment, Celestron PWI control software, SkyAlign, and a permanently programmable periodic error correction (PPEC).

Whether you're a seasoned astroimager looking for a portable mount to take to dark-sky sites or a newcomer eager to delve into the hobby, the Advanced VX has the adaptability to serve your needs for years to come.

Compact Yet Capable German Equatorial Mount

The Advanced VX is the most petite in Celestron's line of German equatorial mounts, but it's equipped with computerized GoTo functionality for automatically following celestial objects as they traverse the night sky. The mount comes ready with ports for hand control, an autoguider, and two additional AUX ports for extra gear. The NexStar+ hand control is your gateway to all the mount’s features, boasting intuitive menus and automated slewing that make mastery achievable in just a few sessions. The mount is complemented by robust 2" steel tripod legs that provide an ultra-stable base.

Payload Potential

With a payload capacity of 30 pounds, the Advanced VX can support its own optical tubes and a range of additional accessories like StarSense AutoAlign, a Focus Motor, finderscopes, and cameras. Note, however, that this payload rating doesn’t include the weight of counterweights.

Versatile Dual Saddle Plate

Since early 2019, these mounts come standard with a dual saddle plate compatible with both CG-5 and CGE-style dovetails, allowing for seamless transitions by simply relocating the hand knobs. This means you can use the Advanced VX with almost any optical tube that fits within its weight limit. But be aware, it’s not compatible with Losmandy D format plates, no matter the manufacturer.

State-of-the-Art Software Suite

All of Celestron's modern computerized telescopes come bundled with the Celestron PWI (CPWI) software, an all-in-one astronomical software solution co-developed with PlaneWave Instruments. It features a graphical planetarium interface, advanced PointXP mount modeling, and is ideal for remote observatories since it allows you to save alignments and park your telescope. It also provides a full ASCOM telescope interface for integration with third-party software.

Starry Night Software Bonus

Your purchase also includes a complimentary download of Celestron’s Starry Night Special Edition Software by Simulation Curriculum. This advanced platform gives you in-depth details on celestial objects and assists in planning your next observation or imaging session. You can even control your telescope directly from your computer using this software.

Solar Warning
  • Never look directly at the Sun with the naked eye or with an optic (unless you have the proper solar filter). Permanent and irreversible eye damage may result.
  • Never use your optic to project an image of the Sun onto any surface. Internal heat build-up can damage the optic and any accessories attached to it.
  • Never leave your optic unsupervised. Make sure an adult who is familiar with the correct operating procedures is with your optic at all times, especially when children are present.
