Description

The Advanced VX (AVX) raises the bar for mid-level telescopes, offering numerous features typically found on Celestron's high-end German equatorial mounts, all at an exceptionally affordable price point. The Advanced VX mount is meticulously designed to deliver top-notch performance, tailored for smaller telescopes, and capitalizes on Celestron's most cutting-edge technologies, including All-Star Polar Alignment, Celestron PWI telescope control software, SkyAlign, and the permanent programmable periodic error correction (PPEC) system.

Experienced astrophotographers will find immense joy in taking this portable mount to remote, light-pollution-free locations, enjoying the conveniences usually associated with larger observatory-grade mounts. For those new to astrophotography, the Advanced VX is a fantastic entry point, helping you embark on this hobby and serving your needs for years to come.

Computerized German Equatorial Mount:

The Advanced VX is the smallest member of Celestron's German equatorial mount family. Despite its compact size, it boasts remarkable capabilities. Its computerized GoTo feature automatically tracks celestial objects as they traverse the night sky. The mount comes equipped with ports for a hand control, autoguider, and two AUX ports for optional accessories. The NexStar+ hand control provides immediate access to all the mount's functions, and with automatic slewing and intuitive menu descriptions, astronomers of any experience level can quickly master its operation. Moreover, the Advanced VX includes an impressive tripod, featuring 2” diameter steel legs, providing a wider stance for enhanced stability.

Payload Capacity:

The Advanced VX offers an impressive payload capacity of 30 lb, ensuring a robust platform for accommodating various Advanced VX optical tubes. This capacity remains sturdy even when additional accessories, such as StarSense AutoAlign, Focus Motor, a finderscope, or a camera, are added. It's important to note that Celestron's payload capacity specification does not encompass the weight of the counterweights.

Dual Saddle Plate:

Beginning in early 2019, Advanced VX mounts come with a dual saddle plate designed to accommodate both CG-5 and CGE-style dovetail bars. The transition between these two saddle plates is straightforward, making the mount compatible with a wide range of optical tubes within the Advanced VX's weight limit. The mount is suitable for Vixen format dovetails of 100mm or longer, but it does not support Losmandy D format plates, regardless of the plate manufacturer.

Software:

  • Celestron PWI Telescope Control Software: Included with all current Celestron computerized telescopes, Celestron PWI (CPWI) stands as the most advanced astronomy software suite provided with any consumer-grade telescope. Co-developed with the engineers at PlaneWave Instruments, CPWI offers a comprehensive solution, boasting features akin to those used on PlaneWave's observatory-class telescopes. This includes a graphical planetarium interface equipped with PointXP advanced mount modeling, allowing for the addition of over 100 points to your alignment model for unparalleled accuracy in pointing and tracking. It's also ideal for remote observatory setups, enabling the saving and reloading of alignment data and telescope control via third-party ASCOM applications.

  • Starry Night Software: Your purchase includes a complimentary download of Celestron’s Starry Night Special Edition Software by Simulation Curriculum. This advanced software offers detailed information about celestial objects and assists in planning your next observing or imaging session. Moreover, the Special Edition software enables telescope control via your computer interface.
