Description

The CGEM II 1100 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope combines Celestron's premium StarBright XLT coated optics with the newly redesigned CGEM II computerized equatorial mount. Despite its substantial capabilities, this telescope remains sufficiently portable, with the optical tube assembly of the CGEM II 1100 weighing just 27.5 lbs. It provides a remarkable 89% increase in light-gathering power compared to an 8" telescope and more than a 40% improvement over the 9.25" model.

This telescope excels as a stable platform for extended exposure astrophotography with optional CCD cameras or photographic equipment. Furthermore, it serves as a valuable tool for scientific research, benefiting from Celestron's premium StarBright XLT coatings.

The CGEM II mount has undergone a refreshing update, boasting an appealing and contemporary design. It offers secure and vibration-free support for Celestron's higher-end SCT optical tubes, accommodating sizes up to 11". This feature makes it well-suited for both visual observing and imaging. With a payload capacity of 40 lbs. and a rapid slewing speed of 5° per second, it allows for instantaneous alignment with celestial objects stored in its extensive database.

ERGONOMIC DESIGN

The CGEM II prioritizes user-friendliness with its large Altitude and Azimuth adjustment knobs, facilitating swift and straightforward polar alignment. The internal wiring of the RA and DEC motors ensures a neat appearance and a hassle-free setup process.

INNOVATION

Celestron's CGEM II series introduces the innovative Polar alignment procedure known as All-Star™. This groundbreaking feature empowers users to select any bright star for polar alignment, with the software performing the necessary calculations to aid in the alignment process. Additionally, astroimagers will appreciate the Permanent Periodic Error Correction (PEC), which enables users to mitigate periodic errors in the worm gears while retaining the PEC recordings.

PERFORMANCE

The CGEM II excels in tracking celestial objects near the Meridian, allowing uninterrupted imaging in the most favorable part of the night sky. The mount boasts a comprehensive database, including over 40,000 objects, support for 100 user-defined programmable objects, and enhanced information on more than 200 specific celestial entities. Celestron's CGEM II mount strikes a perfect balance between the Advanced Series and CGE Series, offering the portability of the former and the precision of the latter.

Solar Warning
  • Never look directly at the Sun with the naked eye or with an optic (unless you have the proper solar filter). Permanent and irreversible eye damage may result.
  • Never use your optic to project an image of the Sun onto any surface. Internal heat build-up can damage the optic and any accessories attached to it.
  • Never leave your optic unsupervised. Make sure an adult who is familiar with the correct operating procedures is with your optic at all times, especially when children are present.
