Description

The CGEM II 925 HD pairs Celestron's redesigned CGEM II computerized equatorial mount with the renowned EdgeHD optical system, boasting over 9 inches of aperture and premium StarBright XLT coatings. This combination provides more than 1000 times the light-gathering power of the unaided eye. The CGEM II 925 HD stands as a premier astroimaging telescope, designed to deliver diffraction-limited performance and exceptional resolution, all while maintaining a lighter weight compared to the 1100 model.

Optical Tube Information:

Experience the Universe in High Definition (HD) The EdgeHD features an aplanatic, flat-field Schmidt-Cassegrain optical design that produces aberration-free images across a wide visual and photographic field of view. Beyond reducing off-axis star coma, this optical system offers an astrograph-quality flat focal plane extending to the edges of the field of view.

True Astrograph Quality Unlike some optical designs that claim to be "astrographs" but produce pinpoint stars across a curved focal plane, the EdgeHD optics provide a focal plane more than three times flatter than a standard Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. This results in dramatically flatter stars when used with digital cameras, ensuring sharp star images across large CCD chips.

Enhanced Performance Superior edge performance not only produces rounder, more visually pleasing stars but also enhances resolution and limiting magnitude when compared to telescopes of similar aperture. Celestron's StarBright XLT optical coatings on every surface of the EdgeHD optics maximize light throughput across a broad visual and photographic spectrum.

Mechanical Features In addition to the optimized optical design, the telescope tube has been redesigned to ensure optimal performance during every observation.

  • Mirror Clutches: Flexible tension clutches secure the mirror and reduce image shift during long-exposure astro-imaging. The flexible rods allow the mirror to stay in place without applying force or pressure on the mirror assembly, ensuring the image remains centered in the eyepiece or on the sensor.

  • Tube Vents: Cooling vents located on the rear cell release hot air from behind the primary mirror. Each vent incorporates an integrated 50-mesh filter, guaranteeing that warm air escapes while keeping dust out.

  • Fastar Versatility: The EdgeHD stands as the most versatile imaging telescope available today. At its native f/10 configuration, you achieve the ideal image scale for capturing small deep-sky objects. Utilizing an optional Barlow lens enhances power for high-resolution planetary, lunar, and solar imaging. Additionally, all EdgeHD optical tubes are Fastar-compatible, allowing for the removal of the secondary mirror and its replacement with a third-party lens accessory for ultra-fast f/2 wide-field imaging.

Individually Tested Each EdgeHD undergoes rigorous testing, not only to assess the surface quality of every optical component but also with a camera and artificial star to verify that the imaging system meets strict quality assurance standards. This "final acceptance test" confirms that the EdgeHD will perform in the field, delivering high-quality astroimages.

Mount Information:

The CGEM II mount receives a fresh update, characterized by its attractive and contemporary design. It is fully equipped to securely support Celestron's higher-end SCT optical tubes, accommodating sizes of up to 11 inches while minimizing vibrations. This capability makes it an ideal choice for both imaging and visual observation. With a substantial payload capacity of 40 lbs. and a swift slew rate of 5° per second, users can easily point to any celestial object from the extensive database.

Ergonomic Design

The CGEM II has been thoughtfully designed with user comfort in mind. It features large Altitude and Azimuth adjustment knobs, ensuring rapid and effortless polar alignment adjustments. The internal RA and DEC motor wiring not only provides a clean appearance but also facilitates a hassle-free setup.

Innovation

The CGEM II series introduces Celestron's innovative Polar alignment procedure, known as All-Star™. This pioneering feature enables users to select any bright star for polar alignment, with the software performing the necessary calculations to assist in the process. Astroimagers will also appreciate the Permanent Periodic Error Correction (PEC), which allows users to mitigate periodic errors in the worm gears while preserving the PEC recordings.

Performance

For objects near the Meridian—an imaginary line extending from North to South—the CGEM II excels by offering robust tracking capabilities that extend well beyond the Meridian. This ensures uninterrupted imaging during the most favorable part of the night sky. With an extensive database housing over 40,000 objects, support for 100 user-defined programmable objects, and enhanced information on more than 200 objects, Celestron's CGEM II mount strikes a perfect balance between the portability of the Advanced Series and the precision of the CGE Series. This makes it an ideal choice for both amateur astronomers and astrophotographers alike.

Solar Warning
  • Never look directly at the Sun with the naked eye or with an optic (unless you have the proper solar filter). Permanent and irreversible eye damage may result.
  • Never use your optic to project an image of the Sun onto any surface. Internal heat build-up can damage the optic and any accessories attached to it.
  • Never leave your optic unsupervised. Make sure an adult who is familiar with the correct operating procedures is with your optic at all times, especially when children are present.
