Description

Our solar filters for telescopes, cameras, and binoculars offer a balanced blend of durability and affordability. They feature a metal ring for durability and are constructed using Thousand Oaks' Solarlite film. This film ensures safe solar viewing or imaging, rendering the Sun in a rich yellow-orange hue. With an ND 5 rating (99.999% rejection), these filters comply with ISO 12312-2:2015 standards for safely observing the Sun directly.

The Solarlite film's texture won't impact image quality, even if it has small wrinkles or ripples. Any minor scratches or pinholes aren't a safety concern due to the film's black polymer base covered by a metallic layer. However, caution is advised to avoid tearing or puncturing the film.

The filters attach securely to your equipment via three glass-filled Nylon thumbscrews that outperform standard plastic ones in terms of strength and won't damage your gear's paint finish.

For those seeking greater contrast and durability, we recommend our premium glass solar filters. If you're looking for a more budget-friendly option, we offer Universal Lens Filters in many sizeapertures.

When purchasing, note that the filters are categorized by their inner diameter. Measure the front outer diameter of your instrument's dew shield or lens and opt for the next larger filter size. For instance, if your instrument has a front diameter of 121mm, you should go for a 130mm filter. Don't mix up the aperture size of your instrument with its outer diameter!

We also provide specialized large-size filters (324mm and above) designed for Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes (SCTs). These are off-axis, reduced-aperture filters.
